How to Validate a Micro SaaS Idea in 7 Days (Before You Build Anything)

February 16, 2026 2 min read

Most micro SaaS projects fail for one reason:

They were built before they were validated.

Validation is not asking your friends if it’s a good idea.

Validation is proving someone will:

  • pay
  • commit
  • or schedule a call

Before you write code.

If you’re new to this model: → Micro SaaS & Tools

Day 1: Define the Pain Clearly

Not “an AI tool for marketers.”

Instead:

A reporting automation tool for small agencies spending 3+ hours per week building client reports.

Specific pain. Specific user. Specific outcome.

If you can’t define it in one sentence, it’s too broad.

Day 2: Find 25 Real People

Where they already exist:

  • Reddit communities
  • LinkedIn searches
  • Niche Facebook groups
  • Indie communities
  • Direct outreach lists

Do not build in isolation.

Day 3–4: Direct Outreach

Message template:

I’m exploring a small tool that helps [specific user] reduce [specific pain].
Would you be open to a 10-minute call to share how you’re handling this today?

You’re not selling.

You’re collecting signal.

Day 5: Pre-Sell or Capture Commitment

Options:

  • Landing page with waitlist
  • Stripe payment link
  • “Early access” discount
  • Letter of intent

If no one commits, adjust positioning.

Do not build yet.

Day 6: Refine the Offer

Based on feedback:

  • narrow the problem
  • simplify the outcome
  • reduce features

Micro SaaS wins by being small.

Day 7: Build the Smallest Useful Version

Not version 1.0.

Version 0.1.

One core feature. One measurable outcome.

Then iterate based on usage.

The Real Rule

Validation > Code
Signal > Ego
Revenue > Features

Micro SaaS works when:

  • it solves a painful workflow
  • it produces a measurable outcome
  • it charges for value delivered

Build small. Validate fast. Iterate weekly.
